Why you should avoid bukkit for minecraft.

I realize this is a bit of a rant post, but I feel that when a large community does something very wrong, it should be brought to the public attention. I'm going to explain to you some recent events that happened to me and my friends in the bukkit community.

OIM server revenue sponsorship, my experiences.

A little while ago I woke up to this email.

Orange San Francisco / ZTE Blade review, how to unlock, root, custom rom.

I bought one of these for my mom from amazon for £99, brand new. You can get it from Orange too for the same price, but they make you purchase a £10 top up so the total price comes to £109. She can't use it until next month when her contract expires, so I've had an opportunity to play around with it and put it through it's paces.

How to be a local call from pretty much anywhere.

In my last post I had a lot of problems with T-Mobile, so I switched. My new provider allows VOIP so this opened the gateway for some fun. I now have around 300 telephone numbers, all over the world. I'm a local call from most places.

The T-Mobile UK Madness

A couple of days ago I woke up to this article on slashdot explaining that T-Mobile was cutting my mobile broadband allowance from 3GB to 500MB, or 83% Less. T-Mobile justify this saying that 'If you want to download, stream and watch video clips, save that stuff for your home broadband,'. I find this rather funny, as on the same basis we should all just not bother with phones at all, we can always talk next time we see them, right?

The FPS Delusion

Recently I've had to give this lecture a lot. So I figured it was about time I wrote a blog post about it.

I keep seeing a lot of people talking about how they get 200FPS in games, and how it is so much better than those with 60FPS, blah blah. These people are quite simply wrong. Allow me to explain...

My new netbook, the Asus 1001P review

Recently I purchased a nice refurbished netbook, the Asus EEE PC 1001P from ebay seller buyit247-shop for £167. Just before purchasing I called customer support to ask when it would arrive, they informed me that it would arrive Friday (I was ordering Wednesday evening, so pretty fast delivery) customer support was nice and fast, straight to the point. Good stuff :)

Got scammed on ebay, but things turned out pretty well.

I went on Ebay and purchased a 16GB USB Pen drive for £10, when it arrived, it turned out to be 8MB, dmesg reports "[321252.688535] sd 20:0:0:0: [sde] 16384 512-byte logical blocks: (8.38 MB/8.00 MiB)"

Fun with the joggler, ubuntu netbook remix, conky, MythTV

Recently I purchased 2 Jogglers from O2 for £50 each in their recent promotion, the specs are really good for the price, featuring a touch screen and a 1.3ghz atom processor. Naturally once it arrived, first thing to do was Ubuntu running on it. I downloaded Ubuntu netbook remix and put it on my 8GB USB drive. Unfortunately, the joggler didn't boot.

Stop spoofing player counts, amusing messages in the server list on TF2.

Was just going to play some 2fort on TF2, when I noticed an amusing message. I hit refresh and got a few different messages. Whoever did this, I salute you. That said I do realize the irony of spoofing player counts to tell people not to spoof player counts.
